ATR STUDY GUIDE version 1.0 programming and database design by Ronald Lewis
---------------------------------------revision history----------------------------------------

08-01-11 version 1 is completed. Has editing capability. ATR DATAFILE is completed on 1-01-12
Approximately, the first 140 questions have explanations along with the correct
answer. After that, due to not having the information, only a correct answer is
         provided.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
This version will run from a CD so you don't have to install it to your computer's hard disk.
No editing is allowed on this version, that is why it can be run from your CD.

To get started just double-click on the ATRTEST file.(loads ATRTEST.exe)
The program should load. Windows users may have to select ATRTEST.exe from your program
manager and change properties so that it can be run in a DOS "window". Should work
with Windows Vista and earlier (not sure of later versions). Linux users can
load the program by right clicking on ATRTEST.exe and select properties, then
"open with" and select DOSEMU or DOSBOX, which are DOS emulator programs that
allow you to run DOS programs in Linux.

To move about in the program, you will see a subject listbox on the left hand side
of the top window. On initial load, the program will display question 1 because that
is where the question "pointer" is. Select the study subject desired then you can
press <PREV or NEXT> to move through the questions on that subject.
After selection of a study subject, I prefer to press <BOF to take the question "pointer"
to the beginning of the data file, then use the <PREV, NEXT> pushbuttons.

As you answer the questions, a score will be kept for you.
You can reset this score at any time so if you want to just score certain subjects,
that is what you would do. When you go to another subject, just press the
"RESET SCORE" pb and it will be cleared. (write the score down before clearing if
you want to keep track).

You will also see a "GET/GRADE" pb. It redraws the question pointed to by the question
"pointer" but if you have selected an answer, it will then grade the question.
Redrawing the question will not affect the score. If you should make a wrong choice
you can clear it by pressing the "RESET CHOICE" pb before selecting the "GET/GRADE" pb.
When no more questions on the selected subject can be found you will be at the end
(or beginning of the database) and you will see a "NO MORE QUESTIONS FOUND" message.
You may, at this event, select another subject or continue the search in the opposite
direction, etc. (this is why I always begin a search by pressing <BOF first).

If your selected answer is incorrect, another "EXPLANATION" window will appear, giving
you the correct answer, and possibly an explanation. ( I don't have the FCOM any more
so I did not have details to include in question #140 or greater. After review, press
any key and you are returned to the main window.

I have started programming a written test feature for version 2, which you can preview
by pressing the "CREATE EXAMS" pb. This page is not working yet but my plan is to create a page
where you can select the study subjects, select the total number of questions you would
like printed, and the program will randomly select questions from those areas, write them
to a text file that can be printed and also, if selected an answer key can be printed.

Unfortunately, that version, along with the ability to ADD/EDIT test questions will be for
a fee.

Many hours of work (programming, editing, adding data) have gone into this so
enjoy this FREE version. Keep flying and stay SAFE!!
